Why should I clean my games?
There is nothing nicer than your games looking like new! Shining up your toys from time to time keeps them nice and shiny! An occasional wash-up gives you also the opportunity to check if the game is still complete and can enlengthen the life expectancy of some wooden games. Sometimes you might want to clean them for hygienic reasons. If someone in the family for example has a cold, you would want to disinfect the games he or she handles to stop bacteria from spreading.
When should I clean plastic games?
The frequency depends on how much your games are being used. Games that are being used more often, can do more often with a gentle rinse. If you or your kid caught a bug, it is recommended to disinfect your games to kill germs when played with. General guidelines: if you play with a plastic game element on a daily base, you want to clean them weekly. Toys for toddlers and babies need a little bit more attention (since they like to put toys in their mouths). They can be cleaned every two days if the toy is used on a daily base. You do not need to disinfect your toys (unless the player is ill).
How to clean wooden or cardboard games?
Wood has anti-bacterial properties. Normally, you should only clean it if someone spilled food on it or if it has had sticky hands all over. Try to clean it first with a dry towel to remove the biggest stains. If that does not do the trick, you can use baby wipes or a little water (damp cloth) to clean these wooden or cardboard educational games. Don’t forget to dry them and not to use too much water. How to clean your plastic SmartGames?
To clean your hard plastic SmartGames elements, take some damp Lysol or baby wipes. You can also take a clean cloth or paper towel and dip it in soapy water. Castile soap or liquid hand soap soap will all do the trick. Wring out the cloth and make sure it’s not wet, just damped. Wipe off the plastic parts with the cloth. Once done, take a fresh cloth, put under water, and go over the game again with this well-wrung cloth to remove the soap. Leave the toys to airdry before putting them away.
